Representaciones de China entre estudiantes chilenos de posgrado en negocios (2018-2022)

Resumen

Este artículo explora las formas en las que se representa a China en Chile a través de un caso de estudio: 71 estudiantes de un posgrado en negocios, entre 2018 y 2022. A partir de una adaptación de la metodología DAST, se les pidió a los participantes que dibujaran China, sin más instrucciones, lo que permitió identificar las principales representaciones sobre ese país de estudiantes chilenos de un posgrado en negocios. Los resultados muestran que los estudiantes representan a China desde dimensiones históricas tradicionales. Pese al creciente y más amplio intercambio económico entre ambos países, prevalecen las ideas esencialistas de China como otro, formuladas desde una dimensión de mercado.

María Montt-Strabucchi, Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile

María Montt Strabucchi es profesora asociada en el Instituto de Historia y miembro del Centro de Estudios Asiáticos de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Posee un doctorado en Estudios Culturales Latinoamericanos de la Universidad de Manchester; una maestría en Estudios Chinos de la Escuela de Estudios Orientales y Africanos (SOAS), Universidad de Londres; y es Licenciada en Historia por la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Sus intereses de investigación son la representación de China en América Latina, la diáspora china y las comunidades asiáticas en América Latina, los viajes a China desde la Guerra Fría hasta la actualidad y la relación cultural y política general entre China y América Latina. Es la directora alterna del Núcleo Milenio ICLAC mumontt@uc.cl.
