Participatively building the water future of the basin Upper Tunuyán River by 2030 (Mendoza, Argentina)

Abstract
The Uco Valley (Central oasis) in Mendoza (Argentina) was organized based on the use of water from the Tunuyán River (upper section). In the last 30 years, said region experienced a sustained growth around what is known as the new viticulture. These processes together with others of an exogenous nature have impacted both the territory and the use of natural resources, even leading to an increase in socio-environmental conflict. This situation invited us to analyze the complexities and transformations of the area's water resources for the future. This contribution seeks to account for an experience of articulation between government agencies, and science and technology, in the collective construction of new knowledge related to the future of the upper Tunuyán river basin from the development of scenarios to 2030. It allowed, on the one hand, to evaluate the emerging challenges and identify and prioritize lines of action in pursuit of the sustainability of water resources, in clear alignment with the challenges posed by the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals. And it makes it possible, on the other hand, to rethink and give an account of the state of the foresight regional in a novel theme -water- for this region of the country.
